Welcome!


My name is Victoria Osterhus. I am currently a senior at Minnetonka High School and will be participating in the Capstone Project.


My driving question during my Capstone Project is to find out if I want to own and manage my own design business. I have a passion for fashion and will be attending the University of Minnesota's College of Design this coming fall. During this Capstone project I hope that I will learn more about starting a design-based business online and managing a photo shoot from start to finish. To help me learn, I will be shadowing Ms. Emily John, from Emily John Photography (https://www.emilyjohnphotography.com/ ).

My objectives:
  • Design a marketing campaign
  • Manage a photo shot from start to finish
  • Create and implement a business plan

Buying Items Emily frequently goes to Home Goods and other furniture/house accessories stores to buy items to stage a photo shoot with. Staging a photo shoot is when you add accent pieces or furniture to make the house/room look lived in and pretty. You can do this with plants, vases, art, etc... For a kitchen photo shoot, we shopped at Home Goods for items we could place on the island and on the cabinets. It's key to find items that match the room, so we looked off pictures of the remodeled kitchen to see what would match- we took into consideration the cabinet color, what metals were present, and the wall and flooring. We ended up buying a silver vase, some colorful bowls and a potted plant. The Shoot Staged items Positioning the camera We shot at a house that recently had their kitchen remodeled. Giveaways are helpful for you online presence because it gives people an incentive to follow you and share your information to others.
